My story starts out as a funny one, for as long as I can remember back as early as the age of 14. I was that guy that all the younger neighborhood kids would come and knock on my door to come out and be the steady pitcher for waffle ball or the referee for some back yard two hand touch football or even just to coach. I would give some pointers to all of the younger kids in my neighborhood and I spend a lot of my free time not just enjoying myself as a kid by making sure that I helped my community and mentored the neighborhood kids down that right path. That way of life followed me as I grew and had my own youth sports career all the way up until high school. During that time frame, I volunteered at Lansdale’s Boys and Girls Club and really became well known and respected in the community. I became the youngest football coach in my Hometown of Lansdale PA, at the age of 16. I was the Head Coach of the Cannoneer's flag football team when flag football first began. The little athletes were only 5 and 6 years old and wanted to play. I was the youngest coach in Lansdale’s history and I couldn't even be rostered as the Head Coach. I would use one of the dad's that was helping me out and he would be listed as the head coach because I was a minor. I continued to coach football for 18 years after that and I going on to become the Tackle Commissioner for our areas Pop Warner league. I sat on the board with Pop Warner for approximately 3 and a 1/2 years and realized that that job just wasn't for me. I needed to be back out on the field and working with these young athletes. In the middle of that I had joined the US army at the age of 21 had gone off to fight in the Gulf War. I served in operation Desert Shield/Storm in Saudi Arabia for an entire year. Returning home decorated with a Bronze Star and a list of other medals to start my own family. I jumped right back into coaching my own boys with all the sports they played from football, baseball, basketball for as long as they would let me. I then began to officiate part time when they didn't have games. As they grew older and they grew tired of me on their heels and by their request I stopped coaching them and decided to get into officiating on a more fulltime basis.
I started out just like everybody else starts finding and assigner for all the sports, I wanted to officiate and take whatever games they could give me. I did that for 31 years in total for football, 22 years for baseball, and 8 years for basketball. Just being out on the field and enjoying the game and working with young athletes of all ages from seven years old all the way up to high school just completed me. Just knowing that I had some sort of effect on how these young men and women carried themselves on and off the field in their homes, their schools, and the community was a reward like no other. To this day, this is what drives me every week to get back out there and referee or umpire a great game. I've worked with a lot officials most of them all have been on the same level that I have been on but there has been a few that maybe not we're up to the caliber as I was and wanted them to be, I worked assigners that we're all about making money and not really taking care of the guys that took care of them, that help build their brand and do what's right for the kids and the game, and that's what prompted me to start my own company and bring back that quality of sports officiating that I knew so well. B.Official was founded in 2017, with the relationships that I had built over many years in multiple sports with coaches leagues, league presidents and other officials it was a no brainer to get this company off the ground and working, to place great officials on the field with the same mindset that I have and work ethic is the base on how I hire. Helping are youth be successful in many different ways was a necessity for me, also to give back to the staff that work so hard and take much grief from coaches and parents and are out there every week doing what they love to do is very important for me, and that's why we have been so successful with all that we have done so far. Our largest partner B.Official supports is the Pro Football Hall of Fame (Youth Academy) staffing 7 to 10 states (Nationally) with their fall tournaments and now their 7v7 tournaments in the early summer, Baseball and Basketball B.Official blankets our area staffing just under 10 leagues in each sport including the rec, travel and tournament seasons also any local Soccer and Lacrosse tournaments to top it all off. I am so thankful for what gifts God has given me and the support from my family and fellow officials that make the B.Official name a well known organization and a positive influence on today's youth sports.
